For all of human history we have shared the planet with millions of other species. These species have interlocked in special ways to make the world we have known, and keep it thriving.
In only a few human generations, we have lost many of the most amazing of these species, with many of the others approaching the edge of the cliff.
Habitat loss, habitat degradation, introduced parasites and diseases, climate change, and trade in endangered species are combining to erase from our planet the other beings which have given myth and meaning to our lives as long as we have been human.
Now the only thing that can reverse the trend is humans stepping up to be more than we have been. If we don’t save them, they’ll be gone within a human lifetime.
