Zero-waste living isn't just bamboo toothbrushes and metal straws. You can get on the hype with your cosmetics, too.
Given that packaging is the main source of plastic waste – it accounts for fifty nine per cent of it – getting a handle on this issue is a good shout.
One beauty brand going hard on the issue is Lush. Aside from their existing set of 'naked' shampoo and soap bars, they're working on cool new ways to make packaging sustainable.
Giles Verdon, head of the company's sustainable campaign team Earthcare, says that customers want to cut back on plastic packaging – now. "The writing is on the wall, public opinion, plastic bag bans, publicity about ocean plastic all point to a virtually packaging free future," he tells us.
