Denmark, Finland and Sweden are the world’s best at clean technology innovation

The Nordic countries are the best in the world at promoting green entrepreneurship and cleantech innovation. Denmark is first, followed by Finland and Sweden. 

 

This is the conclusion of the Global Cleantech Innovation Index (GCII), recently published by Cleantech Group together with WWF. The GCII gauges the strengths and weaknesses of 40 countries when it comes to innovation and entrepreneurship in the environmental technologies sectors.

 

Sounding the alarm on accelerating climate change and biodiversity loss, the GCII sees the increased need for, and likelihood of, a boom in the demand for cleantech; the umbrella term for about 20 different sectors ranging from waste and wind power to energy efficiency and transportation.
